Bayswater is a district on central london in the London postcode "W2". It lies immediately to the north of Hyde Park with Notting Hill to the west and Paddington / Marble Arch to the east. It is predominantly a built up residential area with very little commerce except for retail shops. Although the "poor sister" to Kensington, Bayswater is an up and coming area with soaring property prices. Some parts are still quite run down but not "slums" by any means. The nearer the park the better.
Hotels in Bayswater tend to be 2 or 3 star category but remember that in the UK there is no single governing body determining star ratings so be careful ! For most "3" star hotels read "2" or "2+" and then you will not be disappointed !
