Beautifully restored Grade 1 listed Georgian townhouse hidden in a quiet corner of central London, 3 minutes walk from Oxford Circus. Designed and built by Robert and James Adam, the most prominent Scottish architects in Georgian Britain, the house is a fine example of their work with amazing grand rooms and period restorations.
Chandos House was extensively refurbished in 2004, retaining the features of the original Robert Adam House design. The bedrooms and bathrooms offer the very best in hospitality, are luxurious and well presented, and some contain the renowned Adam fireplaces.
Chandos House has 18 individually designed and furnished bedrooms, including two suites; the King George III Room and the Chinese Room.
All bedrooms and suites have flat screen colour televisions (with built in Freeview box), direct dial telephones, en-suite bathrooms, ample desk space, Wi-Fi internet, hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge offering a small selection of beverages and wines. Children are welcome and travel cots are available at no extra charge. Bedroom 17 is fully accessible.
Inclusive within the room rate is a continental breakfast buffet which is served in the impressive Terrace Room with its high ceilings and Venetian style windows overlooking the walled Garden Terrace. Breakfast can be taken from 7.00am to 9.00am weekdays and from 8.00am - 10.00am on weekends/bank holidays.
Chandos House is owned by The Royal Society of Medicine thereby benefiting from over 200 years of expertise in hosting meetings and events which still continue to this day. This section takes you through the details of the five principal rooms that are available for hire, all of which have been fully restored back to the original design using the colours and grandiose schemes that Robert Adam designed in 1771.
On the ground floor and located adjacent to the reception and entrance are the Robert and James Adam Rooms. These rooms can be hired as a suite or individually. To the rear of the House is the Terrace Room which is unique with its tall and imposing French windows to the walled Garden Terrace.
Ascend the impressive grand staircase under the glass domed ceiling to the first floor Duke and Duchess Rooms. These are arguably the most striking of the meeting and event rooms both with stunning chandeliers and highly decorated ceilings.

We spent 2 nights at Chandos House in August 2010 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The hotel is on a quiet, up-market street just 5 minutes walk from Oxford Circus tube station which is a great station for access to the main sights and hotspots in London. The hotel is a lovely old-fashioned house with a number of large reception rooms that are used for weddings at the hotel. Our room was on the basement floor and was clean, fairly big and quiet. We would definitely recommend staying at Chandos House if you are looking for a quiet but very central hotel.
