A 4-star family-run business just a stones throw away from either Piccadilly or Bond Street, Hyde Park and Regent Street, the Chesterfield Mayfair is known for its breakfasts and teas and is a ideally located haven for a stay in London.
The Chesterfield Mayfair is about as central to Mayfair as you can get, being located on Charles Street. It is easy to get to from many tube stations, including Green Park, Bond Street, and Oxford Circus, with Green Park being the closest. The royal parks are only a couple of minutes walk away, and yet you also have access to one of Londons busiest and most exclusive shopping districts. From department stores to boutiques, Mayfair is known for its shopping. For the culture hound, you are but a few minutes walk from the Royal Academy of Art. There is also the Halcyon Gallery and the Handel House Museum. For fine dining you are near Nobu, and (if you can stand the swearing coming from the kitchen) Gordon Ramsay at Claridges. Famous nightclub Annabels is also near by, and you are within walking distance of Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace.
The hotel itself is well-appointed in the public areas. There is a choice of restaurants in the hotel, and the Executive Chef is reputed to serve the “best grilled Dover sole in London.” The Terrace Bar has a wonderful selection of whiskies and a pianist every evening, and the conservatory is a great place to take afternoon tea. There are 94 deluxe rooms, and 13 suites, each designed with a different mood in mind. There is free high-speed internet to surf whilst you sit in the fluffy robes provided in the rooms. The hotel is child-friendly with a childrens menu, a range of toys, and a child-minding service available. They will even put a yoga mat and DVD in your room, if you ask for it.
The hotel is pet-friendly, so if you are allergic to animals (or just do not like them), it is worth being aware that you may come across some in this hotel. The proximity to Green Park and Hyde Park and the fact that you are within stumbling distance of the West End mean that the location of this hotel is excellent, no matter what you want to find in London. The many repeat customers are testament to the quality of service at the hotel, as are its many satisfied customers.
Many of the staff are long-serving, and the hotel prides itself on how helpful and friendly they are. The hotel suggests asking the staff to deal with any problems, as they can usually help, whether or not the issue is related to the hotel. The Chesterfield prides itself on a quiet, old-world charm, it remains an oasis of old-fashioned service, much like the district it sits in, steeped in an Edwardian England that is long-past.
