The Complaint

My wife and I were guests at The Gower Hotel, 129 Sussex Gardens from Thursday 19 July until Sunday 22 July.

We booked this hotel on the internet, which informed us that "The hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard" What a load of nonsense.

Of course you pay before seeing your room, The first room, the curtains were filthy and all shredded around the bottom, the bedspreads were absolutely disgustingly dirty, the shower worked like a dripping tap, we complained immediately informing the receptionist about the recent refurbishment, mentioned on the booking confirmation sent to us, she just shrugged her shoulders and offered us another room, which we must admit was marginally better except the wall-light was hanging from the wall onto the headboard, the telephone table was broken, but we have to admit the sheets and towels were clean so we stuck it out, having returned home and checked out the website for The Gower Hotel, and noticed all the other complaints, incidentally , most of the complaints were from people from overseas, it made one feel ashamed to be British. we are very surprised the place has not been condemned as "not fit for purpose"
