EXCEL LONDON HOTELS
Excel is situated to the east of central London on the River Thames close to London City Airport.
This superb purpose built venue offers 65000 square metres of exhibition space and is set in over 100 acres of space including car parks, hotels, apartments and retail space. If you are looking for a hotel near to Excel, there are six within the complex.
Travel to Excel is simple but remember that you can not access Excel via the tube system, but by the DLR railway. The easiest way to access from central London is by the Jubilee Line to Canning Town, then change to the DLR (platform 3) for the 3 minute two-stop journey to Custom House for ExCeL Station. If you are travelling from Kensington or Earls Court, you can also take the Circle and District lines to Tower Hill and walk 150m to Tower Gateway for the DLR direct to Excel, a total journey time of less than one hour.
If you are driving to Excel then follow the road signs for Royal Docks, City Airport and ExCeL or if you have satnav then enter E16 1XL. There are over 4000 parking spaces on the complex and you can pay by cash or card at the machines within the Boulevard.
London City Airport is only five minutes away by car or taxi. From Heathrow Airport take the Piccadilly Line from inside the airport to Green Park. Change to the Jubilee Line going eastbound and at Canning Town change onto the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to Custom House for ExCeL. From Gatwick Airport, take the Gatwick Express from inside the airport to Victoria and change onto District and Circle Line (eastbound). At Westminster change onto the Jubilee Line (eastbound) to Canning Town then change for the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to Custom House for ExCeL.
Excel hotels full or too expensive ?
Whilst it may be convenient to stay at ExCel, it is also possible to stay elsewhere which may offer you a wider variety of things to do and see in London. South Kensington is one option with a direct tube service to Tower Hill where you can change to the DLR direct to ExCel. If you are driving and wish to avoid the London traffic then you should consider the Danubius Hotel Regents Park which is on the Jubilee Line direct to Canning Town.

Great priced accommodation at the Holiday Inn Express Royal Docks. This new hotel is less than 2km from ExCel and is 2 stops on the DLR. All the bedrooms are air conditioned and have a private bathroom and internet connection. There is a bar and a limited light food menu.
