Grosvenor Square, home to the Roosevelt Memorial, is located in the heart of Mayfair, close to both Oxford Street and Park Lane, which runs parallel to Hyde Park. The impressive Grosvenor Square, which was built between 1725-31, is the centerpiece of the Grosvenor estate and is one of the largest squares in London. Brook Street, Duke Street, Grosvenor Street and South Audley Street all have intersections with Grosvenor Square.
Grosvenor Square is home to a number of exclusive hotels, including the world famous Claridges which is almost on the square itself on Brook Street. Very close by is Browns Hotel on Albemarle Street which, in 2006, underwent a total refurbishment to emerge as a 5 star deluxe hotel.
Grosvenor Square is home to the U.S. Embassy, which is located at 24 Grosvenor Square W1 facing Hyde Park. The popular shopping areas of Piccadilly, New Bond Street and Regent Street are all within reach of Grosvenor Square. Oxford Street, home to department stores including Selfridge's, John Lewis and House of Fraser, lies 250m north of Grosvenor Square.
Grosvenor Square is located close to bus, London Underground and licensed (black) taxi services. Bond Street Underground Station, which runs services to destinations including Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road, stands 300m north-east of Grosvenor Square, while Marble Arch Station can be found 500m north-west. Warning - do not take photographs of the US Embassy unless you want to be detained by the police.
