London Palladium on Argyll Street London
Argyll Street W1 lies next to Oxford Circus W1 in the heart of London's West End. Argyll Street runs from Oxford Street W1 to Great Marlborough Street W1, sharing a junction with Little Argyll Street W1. Built in the 1730's, Argyll Street was named after the sites landowner, the 2nd Duke of Argyll. Argyll Street is today home to a number of shops, restaurants and the London Palladium.
Argyll Street is home to the Argyll Arms, an 18th century public house, which is decorated in a unique lavish style and has small wooden cubicles in its front bar. The Argyll Arms, which has outdoor seating in the summer, serves traditional British food for lunch and dinner. The London Palladium, which has hosted some of the West End's most popular productions, is located at 7-8 Argyll Street W1, in a Grade II listed building on the former site of Argyll House.
Argyll Street is located next to the shopping areas of Oxford Street, Carnaby Street W1 and Regent's Street W1, home of Hamleys toy store and stores including Austin Reed and Aquascutum. Other places of interest in close proximity to Argyll Street include BBC Broadcasting House, located 500m north on Portland Place W1 and Regent's Park, home of London Zoo (900m north-east).
Argyll Street houses a section of Oxford Circus Underground Station, which provides Bakerloo, Central and Victoria line services to destinations including Bond Street, Marble Arch and Tottenham Court Road.
