The Handel House Museum, which celebrates the life and works of composer George Frideric Handel, is located at 25 Brook Street W1, next to New Bond Street W1 in the heart of the London W1 postcode area.
The Handel House Museum, which has an entrance on Lancashire Court W1 and stands within easy reach of Grosvenor Square W1 and Oxford Street W1, holds a wide range of events and recitals in the grand Georgian townhouse where Handel lived and composed much of his famous work until his death in 1759. This important London tourist attraction has been fully restored and many original 19th century furnishings remain here today.
There are a number of original oil paintings and prints displayed at the Handel House Museum, in addition to over 200 objects related to Handel. Classical music can often be heard in the Rehearsal Room throughout the day at the Handel House Museum, whose composer in residence is Mark Bowden.
Recitals are held every Thursday, while a number of activities geared towards children are held at weekends. Children benefit from free entry to Handel House Museum on Saturdays. The Handel House Museum, which is a registered charity, holds a number of public events, workshops, tours and study days, in addition to its Schools Workshop Programme, which involves getting young people to create music and participate in projects based on classical music and the work of Handel.
Many events take place at 23 Brook Street W1, the former home of musician Jimi Hendrix, now linked to the museum.
The Handel House Museum, which is closed on Mondays (including bank holidays), is open between 10.00am-18.00pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, between 10.00am-20.00pm on Thursdays and from 12.00pm-18.00 every Sunday.
The Handel House Museum is located 300m south-east of Bond Street Underground Station, which provides Central and Jubilee line services to destinations including Marble Arch, Tottenham Court Road and Warren Street. Other London Underground stations situated near the Handel House Museum include Oxford Circus (500m north-east) and Regent's Park (800m north).
