Hanover Square is one of three Mayfair squares, located in the heart of London's West End close to New Bond Street W1, Oxford Street W1 and Regent Street W1.
Hanover Square was created around 1714 as part of the Millfield or Kirkham Close estate and the garden of Hanover Square houses a large statue of William Pitt the Younger. Hanover Square has intersections with Princes Street W1, Dering Street W1, Brook Street W1 and Hanover Street W1.
Hanover Square, once an exclusive residential area, is now mainly home to a number of offices, including Vogue House, the British headquarters of Vogue magazine. A few original 18th century buildings remain on Hanover Square, which is located 75m south-west of Oxford Circus W1, home to flagship stores from retailers including Topshop, H&M and Nike.
Other places of interest located near Hanover Square include the Handel House Museum, the former house of composer George Handel, which stands at 25 Brook Street W1.
Hanover Square lies close to the exclusive Savile Row W1, renowned for the high quality tailors located here. Piccadilly W1, home to the Burlington Arcade and Royal Academy of Arts, lies 600m south-east of Hanover Square, close to Green Park. Soho and the West End's Theatreland are a short walk east of Hanover Square.
Hanover Square benefits from excellent transport links, close to bus, licensed (black) taxis and London Underground services. Oxford Circus Underground Station, which runs Bakerloo, Central and Victoria line services to stations such as Warren Street and Marble Arch, stands 75m north-east of Hanover Square. Other London Underground stations in close proximity include Bond Street (450m west) and Tottenham Court Road (900m north-east).
