HOTELS NEAR MANCHESTER STREET LONDON W1

Manchester Street W1 is located in Marylebone, in the heart of the London W1 postcode area, running south from Dorset Street W1 into Manchester Square W1, home of the impressive Wallace Collection.

Laid around 1789, Manchester Street, which has junctions with Blandford Street W1, George Street W1 and Robert Adam Street W1, was named after the Duke of Manchester who lived on nearby Manchester Square. Manchester Street is today home to a number of luxury apartment buildings and is situated next to the peaceful Paddington Street Garden, close to both Mayfair and Fitzrovia.

Manchester Street, which is located between Baker Street W1 and Marylebone High Street W1, is home to a section of Hertford House, which holds the exclusive Wallace Collection, one of the finest collections of 18th and 19th century paintings in Europe. The Wallace Collection was left to the British nation in 1897 by the widow of Sir Richard Wallace, who had inherited much of this fine collection, which includes Oriental art, furniture and medieval armour. Hertford House, which opened to the public in 1900, is free to enter and is also home to the Wallace Restaurant, which serves exceptional seasonal dishes under the guidance of head chef Thierry Laborde.

Manchester Street is located close to a number of places of interest within west London, including the popular shopping areas of Oxford Street W1, New Bond Street W1 and Regent Street W1. Regent's Park, home to a boating lake, open air theatre and the popular London Zoo, is located 500m north of Manchester Street, behind Marylebone Road NW1.

Grosvenor Square W1, home to the U.S. Embassy and the Roosevelt Memorial, is situated 600m south of Manchester Street. Manchester Street lies close to the excellent taxi and public transport services available on Baker Street and Marylebone Road.

Baker Street Underground Station, which provides services across 5 lines to destinations including Oxford Circus and Paddington, stands 400m north-west of Manchester Street. Other London Underground stations in easy reach of Manchester Street include Bond Street (500m south-east) and Marble Arch (600m south-west).
