Mortimer Street is located in the heart of the West End between Cavendish Place, Langham Place and Regent Street at its western end, through to its eastern junction with Goodge Street.
Positioned close to both Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road, Mortimer Street is named after Earl Mortimer, whose son built the street on the land of his wife, the heiress of Marylebone Manor.
There are a number of grand houses on Mortimer Street, which is home of the Middlesex Hospital, and the Duke of Clarence, who became William IV once lived here.
Mortimer Street, which runs through Great Portland Street and has junctions with both Great Titchfield Street and Wells Street, is located 200m from Oxford Circus, home to fashion stores including Topshop and H&M.
Mortimer Street has a number of bars and restaurants, such as the renowned Gaylord Indian restaurant, located between 79-81 Mortimer Street. Gaylord, which provides a wide range of Indian dishes made from the freshest ingredients, has an extensive wine list which is popular with diners.
The Mortimer Bar, where guests can enjoy food throughout the day and into the evening, is also located in this area at 40 Berners Street.
Mortimer Street is located close to the All Souls church on Langham Place, which stands opposite the world famous Langham Hotel, close to BBC Broadcasting House on Portland Place.
