Notting Hill Gate underground station is a Zone 1 tube station located in the ultra chic west London district of Notting Hill.

Positioned on the corner of Holland Park Road and Kensington Park Road, the station is serviced by the Central line (red) between Queensway and Holland Park station and the District and Circle lines (green & yellow) between High Street Kensington and Bayswater stations.

Tourist-famous for being the filming location for the movie Notting Hill starring paparazzi favourite Hugh Grant and silver screen star Julia Roberts, Notting Hill has long been one of the more desirable places to live and visit in London and it is here where you will find Portobello Road, home to one of the worlds most well-known and most visited markets - the Portobello Market.

Most famous for the antiques market on Saturdays, you will also find plenty of second-hand yet super-cool clothes, fruit & veg and other regular market bits and pieces. But the shopping doesn't start and stop at the market; Portobello Road, and surrounding streets, is lined with fantastic clothing shops, bookstores, bars, restaurants and cafes and if you're looking for somewhere great to eat (that gets it right every time) then you should definitely try Portobello Gold at No.95 which is approximately 10 minutes by foot from the station.

Then there is of course the fabulously colourful Notting Hill Carnival; an annual 3-day festival celebrating the West Indian/Caribbean community in London that takes place in the streets of Notting Hill over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

To the north of the station is the district of Bayswater and Ladbroke Grove, to the south is Kensington and High Street Ken, Queensway and Paddington are in the east, Holland Park and Shepherds Bush are to the west, Kensington Palace and Kensington Gardens are a short walk to the south-east and a little further south from here is South Kensington and its cluster of museums including the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum.

Most of London's Underground Stations have disabled access via lifts, and when you hear the recorded voice on every train platform advising you to ´mind the gap´, this really is advice that should be taken seriously. It is also a universal fact that busy underground train stations and crowded city areas are a haven for pick-pockets so to ensure your journey and day out is enjoyable and stress-free, just be a little streetwise with your belongings.
