London Hotel near Piccadilly Tube Station

Piccadilly Circus underground station is a Zone 1 tube station located directly beneath Piccadilly Circus in London's West End and this famous traffic intersection is where Piccadilly, Regent Street, Shaftesbury Avenue, Haymarket and Glasshouse Street all meet.

The station is serviced by the Piccadilly line (dark blue) between Green Park and Leicester Square stations and the Bakerloo line (brown) between Charing Cross and Oxford Circus stations.

With entrances/exits on every corner of Piccadilly Circus, the station gives you access the gateway of the West End and London's entertainment and shopping mecca with Soho to the north, Leicester Square and Covent Garden to the north-east, the swanky district of Mayfair is directly to the west, Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery are south-east of the station and St James's Park, Green Park, The Ritz Hotel and Buckingham Palace are to the south.

Piccadilly Circus is always super busy and, more often than not, very congested. However it said to be the place where if you spend enough time there you're sure to bump into someone you know.

Piccadilly Circus is renowned world-wide for its neon-lit billboards that light the area up at night and for the little arc angel popularly know as ´Eros´ who sits atop the bronze fountain in the centre of the public space.

Lillywhites Sports Store is on the corner and the London Pavilion, which is connected to the Trocadero Centre, is a great shopping arcade with basement links the station.

Other places of interest include the numerous West End theatres that reside in the area such as the underground Criterion Theatre whose tiled stairway entrance is the only visible part of theatre on Piccadilly Circus and along Shaftesbury Avenue is where you will find the Palace, Lyric, Apollo and Queen's theatres amongst many others.

For those interested in shopping, Regent Street is where you want to be.

Most of London's Underground Stations have disabled access via lifts, and when you hear the recorded voice on every train platform advising you to ´mind the gap´, this really is advice that should be taken seriously. It is also a universal fact that busy underground train stations and crowded city areas are a haven for pick-pockets so to ensure your journey and day out is enjoyable and stress-free, just be a little streetwise with your belongings.
