About the Prince Edward Theatre
Opened as the Prince Edward Theatre in 1930 as a multi purpose theatre able to house musicals, revue and films, the theatre then was converted into Casino in 1936. It became noted for its lavish stage shows. During the Second world war it was used as a club for servicemen. In 1954 the theatre was converted to screen the new 'Cinerama' film spectaculars.
Until recently, the Prince Edward theatre was home to hugely successful Abba-fest Mamma Mia! which was succeeded by the much talked about Jersey Boys.
Jersey Boys follows the rags-to-riches tale of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons as they work their way from the streets of Newark to the heights of stardom, and features such hits as 'Sherry,' 'Big Girls Don't Cry,' 'Can't Take My Eyes Off of You,' 'Oh, What a Night' and many more.
There are five licensed bars. The Mozart Bar at street level, the Dress Circle Bar (with external balcony), the Stalls Bar, the Soft Drinks Bar at Stalls level and a further bar at Grand Circle level.
