Westminster, SW1, usually included in the areas of Belgravia and Victoria when spoken of, is located in the South West corner of the city Centre, following the curve of the River Thames North to Charing Cross Embankment and South to Chelsea.
This area is the official seat of the Government of the United Kingdom at Westminster Palace and also the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace, and is often referred to as "Royal London". The Riverboat Service offers an excellent alternative to the tube and provides excellent views and photo opportunities of the sights and landmarks throughout the Centre and East to Greenwich. This service also boards at Millbank pier, which is also in Westminster, close to the Home Office and Tate Britain Art Gallery.
Westminster's location offers easy access to nearby areas by bus, tube, taxi or riverboat. Just minutes South of Westminster and Victoria is Battersea, Vauxhall, Kennington, Clapham and also just three kilometres away to the South East lies Kings College and Hospital on Denmark Hill. Travelling West from Westminster takes you to Knightsbridge, Kensington, Chelsea and Belgravia, all within two kilometres from Westminster and also host to the Chelsea Flower Show. West across the Thames lies Waterloo, Southwark and Borough, which melts into Rotherhithe, London Bridge and Docklands. Travelling North brings you to Soho, Covent Garden, Mayfair and the West End, with Covent Garden and Theatreland less than two kilometres away!
