Hyde Park in January ! I had waited 2 or 3 weeks for a chance to film in the park. Eventually we had a break in the grey weather which gave me a 3 or 4 hour slot of reasonably sunny sky. I had forgotten my tripod so apologies for the shakes. I have always thought that Hyde Park should be higher on tourists "must visit" agenda than it is at present. Given some good weather its a pleasure to be away from the bustling streets of a capital city. In fact, there are some areas of the park, for example around the Peter Pan statue, where you can not hear traffic. ![]() My own particular favourite part is the Elfin tree close to the north west corner of Kensington Gardens. Featuring fantasy fairies, elves and gnomes climbing around the tree truck, this amazing work of art has delighted children for decades. Carved in the 1920's by illustrator Ivor Innes, it was originally in Richmond Park but was moved here in 1928. It now is a protected landmark. Spike Milligan personally oversaw and financed the restoration work required.
