This very basic hotel is located in the Victoria area of Pimlico Western London, close to such attractions as Buckingham Palace and Victoria train station. This hotel is located approximately 8 minutes walking distance from Pimlico train station, 15 minutes from the main Victoria train station, and 18 minutes from Sloane Square Station. Within walking distance from Lidos are the much admired Buckingham Palace, the 1897 Tate Britain art gallery, the 1895 Westminster Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, and the Royal Mews in which the Royal horses are housed. Regular buses are available directly opposite this hotel which can take guests to other locations and attractions within the city to such areas like the famous shopping area of Bond Street, and attractions such as the Houses of Parliament. Theatreland and the West End are easily accessible from the Lidos Hotel, so there is really no excuse to not enjoy one of the many world famous performances and operas on offer. Lidos Hotel was converted from a town house into a hotel in 1990 and has been known since then as a budget hotel. The 24 hour reception desk has several multi lingual staff members at all times, and they are always more than happy to assist with any queries that people may have, and they will book any excursions or tickets that guests ask for. All 42 rooms on 4 floors in this nicely built hotel are basically furbished to make guests feel comfortable and at home, but easily affordable. Four categories of rooms are offered, these being Double rooms, Twin rooms, Triple rooms, and Quadruple rooms. Each room has a comfortable bed, a television with basic freeview channels, a hairdryer, and a refrigerator. Most of the rooms have an en-suite bathroom with a shower, toilet, and basin, but a few rooms only have a shared bathroom. Every guest is entitled to a complimentary Continental breakfast with fresh juice every morning. All rooms are relaxing to help guests to escape from the stress of London life, but as they are cheap they are not necessarily high quality.
The Lidos Hotel really does attract travellers and tourists from all around the world, of which the majority of the guests are mostly backpackers and those searching for cheap holidays. Obviously prices will vary throughout the year and will vary depending on room size, but the hotel will always offer cheaper prices than the competition in this hotel category.
