A three-star hotel on a picturesque street in a bohemian neighbourhood, the Lord Jim Hotel, London would seem to have everything going for it. It is just around the corner from earls Court tube station making it very handy for those who are travelling through Heathrow Airport, whether for business or pleasure.
Earls Court has a reputation as one of the more diverse and interesting parts of Kensington and Chelsea. Unlike its more refined and genteel neighbours, Earls Court enjoyed successive waves of immigration as rents stayed slightly lower than in other districts. This has led to a much more varied and surprising culture, as those who have come to London from Poland after the Second World War, or from Australia in the 1980s, or from the Philippines in the last decade or two have all brought unique contributions to this fascinating corner of the city.
Earls Court tube station is right around the corner from the Lord Jim Hotel, and the District and Piccadilly Lines run through it. This means that you can get a direct train to Heathrow Airport, or into the West End, or to see Tower Bridge or Buckingham Palace, or even to go out to Wimbledon to see some tennis.
Whatever you want to do whilst you are in London, Earls Court is a feasible place from which to do it, and it is cheaper than the luxury hotels in the centre of town. Earls Court, of course, has its own attractions. It has, for example the Olympia and Earls Court Exhibition Centre, at which Crufts and the Royal Tournament are held each year. There is also an abundance of places to eat and drink, including the Troubadour Club, a coffee house and music venue that has seen performances by Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Costello, and Bob Dylan.
The Lord Jim aims to provide cosy, comfortable accommodation at a moderate price in a convenient location. There is a lift to all of the floors, and free wireless internet access is provided in all of the public areas. Every room comes with a colour television, a hairdryer, and the facilities for making teas and coffees. There is no smoking allowed in any part of the hotel.
Although it is a three-star hotel, the Lord Jim is clearly a budget hotel. The rooms are small, and there are not bathroom facilities on all of the floors: people staying on the third floor have to make their way to the first floor to use a bathroom. There have also been a number of concerns raised by guests to do with the cleanliness of the hotel.
The Lord Jim may well suit your needs if you just need a small place to lay your head during an overnight stay in London. However, even in comparison to other budget hotels, those guests staying for an extensive time do tend to report problems, many of which are to do with cleanliness. It is convenient, however, so as a cheap last resort it may be worth a look.

Did not really have much choice of hotel as London was very busy. The Lord Jim to be fair is in a great central position and is very handy for the tune and also shops and restaurants. Our bedroom was smaller than average and the shower was minute! It was cheap so can't complain but don't expect much !
