ABOUT MARYLEBONE
Marylebone, which lies to the north of Oxford Street, is a grid-plan Georgian development and an attractive area. It boasts a very fine art gallery, the Wallace Collection, and in its northern fringes, two of London's biggest tourist attractions, Madame Tussauds', the oldest and largest wax museum in the world, and the London Planetarium.
In the past, Marylebone was quite undesirable but now it is known as "Marylebone Village" and is filled with chic shops and cafes. It is now more desirable than Notting Hill.
Within walking distance are many London attractions including Bond Street, the American Embassy in Grosvenor Square, Marble Arch, Mayfair, Hyde Park and Baker Street home of Sherlock Holmes.
Marylebone is the location of Marylebone mainline station with links to Birmingham and the Chilterns. Just north of the station is the Lords Cricket Ground, St Johns Wood and Regents Park.
