New England Hotel, London

3 star bed and breakfast in a good cenral location but mixed reviews.  All depends on price with the New England Hotel, but do not expect too much.

The New England Hotel, London is a friendly, family run establishment in Warwick Way, a short walk from Victoria Station in the centre of the city. The hotel offers welcoming service and cosy, comfortable rooms for travellers on a budget, and its location is excellent, in the heart of a bustling street and close to a wide range of restaurants and bars.

The hotels proximity to Victoria Station means that Londons world famous attractions are a short underground ride away, at most. For visitors who enjoy exploring the city on foot, the location is ideal, as sites such as the London Eye, Tate Britain, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, and Buckingham Palace are all within twenty minutes of the hotel on foot. Within a couple of tube stops, visitors will find a range of world-class museums and galleries, such as the Natural History Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Science Museum, all in South Kensington, or the Royal Academy, the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery in Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square.

All of Londons most famous parks, the green lungs of the city, are in close proximity to Victoria, with Green Park, near Buckingham Palace, being the closest; in Hyde Park visitors can explore the exhibitions at the Serpentine Gallery, or visit the London Zoo in Regents Park.

A couple of underground stops away lies the literary area of Bloomsbury, where Virginia Woolf and her literary friends once lived. The magnificent British Museum stands in the heart of Bloomsbury, where travellers can view exhibits that stretch back to the beginning of civilisation, including the mummies in the Egyptian gallery and the Elgin Marbles from Ancient Athens. The British Library is nearby, next to St Pancras Station; it frequently displays temporary exhibitions drawn from its huge collection.

Travellers planning to explore the riches of Londons Theatreland will also find the New England Hotels location convenient. The plays and musicals in the West End are all within easy reach, as is the Royal Opera House and the English National Opera. Fans of modern dance may prefer to venture to North Londons Sadlers Wells, near the Angel underground station in Islington, where they can see a range of cutting edge contemporary dance from around the world.

For visitors who are pressed for time, a good way to see the highlights of Londons tourist attractions is by booking an organised tour. The New England Hotel offers a free tour booking service for all its guests. The area immediately surrounding the hotel is rich in restaurants, bars, cafés and pubs, offering a range of options for the evenings. In nearby Chelsea, travellers wishing to treat themselves will find a wealth of exclusive upmarket restaurants and bars, such as Restaurant Gordon Ramsay on Royal Hospital Road, although it is necessary to book far in advance. Closer to the hotel, in the roads around Victoria Station, there are a number of restaurant chains such as Nandos, which offer good food at excellent value for money.
