Comment The Ritz at 150 Piccadilly London is one of the most famous of all deluxe hotels and of course this means that you have high expectations when you stay there. You can not help but think about the famous people that have been there before you, I think of King Edward VII, Anna Pavlova, Aga Khan, Paul Getty, Charlie Chaplin, Noel Coward and the American actress Tallulah Bankhead who sipped Champagne from her slipper during a press conference in the 1950's. The entrance itself is like no other with its glittery lights that elsewhere could look crass. However this is no ordinary hotel, its a British institution retaining the pomp and grandeur of an age gone by yet still capable of hosting queens and kings in its larger than average sumptuous rooms and grand halls. Ok so you have heard about the famous "Afternoon Tea". This ceremonial afternoon pleasure is held in the Palm Court and its the only hotel where I have ever been pulled up for wrong dress code in the daytime so beware you casual dress types, a jacket and tie is compulsory. Book at least a month in advance. Being on Piccadilly, you can walk to so many places in a few minutes and as this immediate area of the West End is best known for its gentrified mens clothing so do not miss out on a trip to Saville Row for that hand made suit or to Jermyn Street for that special business shirt that you have always wanted for that important power meeting. For the ladies, Bond Street is a 5 minute walk and here you have everything from Vuitton to Asprey. Hotel Assist Verdict ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Value for Money - forget the cost, the Ritz London is an experience not to be missed. The hotel has more personality than its bigger Park Lane counterparts and more style than its modern competitors. Sure there are some worn carpets and frayed fabrics but thats part of the experience of staying in a hotel with a hundred years of history. Anyone that derides this hotel just does not have any sophistication or style. Yes I do like it a lot.
