The Rookery is located just outside the Square Mile, Londons financial district. It is near the Bank of England, St. Pauls Cathedral, the Old Bailey and the historic Inns of Court.
The interior boasts a certain antiquated, period charm. Polished wood panelling, stone-flagged floors, open fires and genuine antique furniture give the place a homely atmosphere - more private club than hotel.
Each of the 33 rooms are different. They are all en-suite, with free broadband access and air-conditioning. All are named after people who actually lived in the buildings over the last 250 years. Each room is furnished with antiques and 18th Century beds. The windows are dressed with wonderful silk drapes to add to the drama. The bathrooms have original Victorian fittings with some featuring free standing claw-footed baths and huge shower heads. All rooms offer air conditioning, free wi-fi, LCD television, mini bar and a safe.

This lovely hotel is clean throughout, with crisp white sheets, restored bathroom fittings and period furniture. Unfortunately, no restaurant, but nice lounge and bar. It make a change from the cloned rooms of the chain hotels and the now familiar urban chic of other hotels in and around Clerkenwell and London in general. Quaint, quirky, unusual ! You can be in the West End in 5 mins in a taxi
