Travelodge Covent Garden |
The Travelodge Covent Garden Hotel - Comment The Travelodge Covent Garden Hotel in the West end of London is possibly the best location possible for the visitor wanting easy access to attractions and theatres. There are 2 buildings, the Drury Lane one being the oldest as it was the Drury Lane Moat House and the recently constructed High Holborn building which is the better choice. Underneath the hotel is a car park with subsidised rates. There have been client complaints here about poor reception service with long queues and a lack of toiletries, towels and room service. You must remember that this is a new breed of no frills hotel and in order to keep the rates low they do not overstaff or overfill the rooms with towels and toiletries hence keeping the price down. I deliberately did not say "keep the price low" as rates are edging up to the hundred pounds a night level like many other overpriced London hotels. I would have to say that if you require a more traditional level of hotel facilities then look towards South Kensington where you have an upmarket, slightly less busier environment but can access Covent Garden within 10 minutes by tube. Hotel Assist Verdict ![]() ![]() Value for Money - Depends on which building you are allocated. On arrival try to get a room in the new building. Overall, the Travelodge Covent Garden offers a great "no frills" place to stay if you are staying only one of two nights and are either visiting a local theatre or you have a couple of kids. There are reports of disturbed sleep, this is a noisy and busy area so on arrival, ask for a high floor. One annoying issue is that there is no baggage storage. If it were me, I would look at South Kensington, especially for longer stays where facilities and the surrounding areas are then more important. However, given the high occurence of aweful "family room" type London hotels at under £100/night I think I would stick to the Travelodge. | |
