West End hotels
West End London

Hotels in the West End of London can be expensive, especially at the weekends. If budget is an issue then you may want to look at the "fringes" of the West End in areas such as Kings Cross, Marble Arch, Paddington or Marylebone where prices will decrease somewhat yet you can still walk.

The West End is not officially geographically defined but is generally known as the areas around  Londons Theatreland (Covent Garden across to Piccadilly Circus) and also the shopping areas of Oxford Street and Regents Street and can be centered around Soho.  Using the West End term more broadly, it may also include Mayfair, Marble Arch, Marylebone and Bloomsbury.

Cheap hotels in West End London:

There is no such thing in the West End as a cheap hotel unless your expectations are very low in which case book one of the many B&B's around Kings Cross.  A good B&B is the Fairway Hotel in Argyle Street, Kings Cross. A little closer to the West End is the Grenville Hotel which is a 2 star bed and breakfast.  Although basic, it is cheap and you can easily walk to Oxford Street in less than 10 minutes.

You should realistically expect to pay between £80 and £110 per night for a cheap but acceptable tourist hotel double room.  Certain times of the year will reflect rises or falls as the hotel become quiet or busy.

One of our most popular hotels is the St Giles Hotel London which is very close to Oxford Street.  This modern 3 star accomodation offers a swimming pool and gym.  Guest reviews refer to "value for money", "clean" and "fantastic location" but the rooms are on the small side.

Close to the theatres and also Covent Garden is the Strand Palace Hotel London. From this good three star hotel you can also walk to the London Eye across the River Thames.

If you require a quad or family guestroom in the West End at a good price then look at the Wigmore Court Hotel which is a three star less than ten minutes easy walk from Oxford Street.

You may also want to check out the Royal National Hotel.  This economical tourist hotel has over 1000 bedrooms.  Its very close to the British Museum and Oxford Street.

Luxury hotels in the West End London:

If you are looking for something special then there are plenty of hotels in the West End London that will suit. The new "all singing all dancing" Cumberland Hotel has reopened to great guest reviews.  This globally known 4 star sits on Oxford Street within purse throwing distance of Selfridges Department store.

The Courthouse Hotel London just off Regents Street is a deluxe West End accommodation situated just off Regents Street, this area is the epicentre of shopping with Bond Street being only a 5 minute walk away.  Just south of this is Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square with its multitude of theatres and restaurants.

In the very heart of the West End is the Sanderson Hotel. The design conscious hotel hits all the right notes. Contemporary in it's style, it has become a magnet for the hip and cool crowds living or just visiting London. Designed by the French designer "Phillipe Starck" it offers guests stylish accommodation and superb amenities.

One Aldwych Hotel is a truly luxurious five star hotel! This hotel is one of the most exclusive in London's West End. The One Aldwych is located on Aldwych, just off the Strand and right in the heart of theatreland - the hotel is just three minutes walk from Covent Garden.

Leicester Square is probably as close as you can be to the center of Londons attractions and theatres. We offer a 5 star hotel in the West End which is actually in Leicester Square. The Hampshire Hotel London is a Radisson brand luxury hotel.  From here you can walk to most major attractions within a few minutes.

Hotels near to West End Theatres:

Most London Theatres can be found around the Piccadilly / Covent Garden / Leicester Square area of the West End.  One of our favourites is the Kingsway Hall Hotel close to Drury Lane. This West End hotel is a sophisticated four-star deluxe accommodation in Covent Garden. From this central area of London you are minutes away from many landmarks and attractions including the British Museum, Theatreland and the City.

If you want to be in the thick of the action, then check out the Shaftesbury Piccadilly Hotel London. The World famous Piccadilly Circus with it's neon lights is just a 2 minute walk from the hotel entrance.  Leicester Square and onward to Covent Garden is all within easy walking distance.

Alternative areas to stay in:

You do not have to book a hotel in the West End of London to be able to enjoy all its attractions.  The tube system will get you to Covent Garden and Leicester Square in a few minutes from South Kensington, Gloucester Road and Earls Court.  The area around South Kensington is superb with many restaurants and of course the museums. For a good tried and tested 3 star check out the Montana Hotel London which is a 2 minute walk to the tube station at Gloucester Road and Leicester Square is a mere 12 minute trip.

From Victoria, Oxford Street is only two stops away whilst  Paddington to Oxford Circus is only 5 stops.

All these "satellite" areas are accepted tourist areas within simple quick range of the West End.  In fact it could be argued that in paying a lower hotel price you also get a more peaceful nights sleep.  Remember, the West End is a 24 hour district.

Driving into the West End:

The vast majority of the West End is within the Congestion Zone which entails paying a daily fee.  As well as this charge, hotel car parking or even NCP parking will cost you between £25 and £45 per 24 hours.  If you want to reduce these costs then check out the Danubius Regents Park Hotel.  This nice hotel is just outside the Congestion Zone and has reasonably priced secure parking.  From here you can walk to the West End in 20 minutes or take the tube from St Johns Wood station.
